Durante l’ultima puntata di NXT (QUI! il report e QUI! i risultati) Joe Gacy, prima del suo match contro Cameron Grimes, ha fatto un discorso che ha fatto scalpore sui social ed ha segnato il cambio netto del suo personaggio.
L’ex-CZW World Champion è apparso molto di rado nel terzo show, lottando per la prima volta solo durante il Breakout Tournament, esibendosi principalmente il venerdì notte a 205 Live.

Il discorso di Gacy è stato mal recepito dai fan soprattutto per una frase detta dall’atleta: “vengo da un posto dove non ho bisogno di usare il mio privilegio maschile per ottenere ciò che voglio”

Da questa semplice frase, che fa passivamente riferimento al suo passato in CZW, Gacy è passato ad un discorso un po’ più articolato sullo “spazio sicuro”, dicendo che ora “vorrebbe far sentire tutti un po’ più al sicuro”.
La risposta dei fan sui social non si è fatta attendere e moltissimi, tra gli indignati sulla frase del “privilegio maschile” e chi dispiaciuto nel vedere un cambio così drastico nel personaggio di Joe Gacy.

So the first thing I saw from #WWENXT was Joe Gacy’s promo.
I wanted to hate it, but by the end I wanted to give it a chance and I’m curious to see it going forward. We’ve seen the “white woke, politically correct guy” gimmick before. It usually doesn’t work, we’ll see.
